Slovenia and Kazakhstan win the European Open competition in city of Riihimäki

The VEX IQ series European Open championship took place today in Riihimäki, Finland. The competition had 22 teams coming from Türkiye, Poland, Slovenia, Czechia, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, and Finland. The youngest competitors were aged 9 and the oldest 15.

The first place in the team challenge was won by Team Čmrlj: Bastian Kojc, Boxuan Ma, Eva Vamberger Jan Čepe and Jan Topolovec Slovenia and Team Brainybots 2.0: Akhmetzhanov Ulan, Akhmet Sami, Syzdyk Bauyrzhan ja Nurtaeva Akbope from Kazakhstan.

The Judges’ Awards was awarded to Team B: Alex Liu, Ansley Liu and Peyton Cheng from Hong Kongista and Team Robomasters: Rasmus Peltopuro, Elmo Laakso and Paavo Heinonen from Finland. This award is given to a team that deserves special recognition. The team is resilient and strives after their achievements.

The Energy Award was awarded to team Team Wild Bees:  Petr Došek, Klára Brandejská, Adéla Spálenková, Kristýna Knoflíčková, Patrik Šela, Daniel Adámik and Matyáš Rydván from Czech Republic. This award is given to an enthusiastic team with a passion for robotics. Their teamwork is great, and their enthusiasm also spreads to other competitors.

The Sportsmanship Award was awarded to team Team Boys In Black: Tomáš Arteňuk, Tomáš Bosák, Lukáš Kalaš, Monika Filipová and Zdeňka Janečková from Czech Republic. This award is given to a team that is fair, cheers others on, and takes everyone into account, creating a great feeling around them. The team is courteous and helpful towards everyone.

The competition is organised by the City of Riihimäki’s Robotics Campus in collaboration with Hyria Education. The competition is supported by OP Häme, the Union of Professional Engineers, Riihimäen Kaukolämpö, and Aaltoes (Aalto Entrepreneurship Society).
